Guardian of the Valley

The Elkhorn Mountains of the Blue Mountain Range provide a scenic backdrop for Baker City, Oregon. Arriving with a blanket of snow in November appears the shadow of an Indian resting serenely in the bowl of Elkhorn Peak and signaling the arrival of winter. He appears daily in sunshine from November through February from 11am to 2pm, contributing to the beauty of this region. Throughout the winter months he is “Guardian of the Valley.”
